Padayon, the coffeetable book

Padayon nga Maragtas sang UP sa Visayas, a coffee table book, supports the Handumanan Project.

Few moons ago, Padayon nga Maragtas sang UP sa Visayas, a coffee table, was launched at Plazoleta Gay in Hotel del Rio.
A social and political history, the 300 plus page coffee table celebrates and chronicles the 75 years of UP in Iloilo and beyond.
With retired Associate Justice FRANCIS H. JARDELEZA as publisher and Dr. MARIA LUISA E. MABUNAY, PhD, as editor, the sale of the coffee table aims to raise funds for the Handumanan Project.
The project will maintain two heritage structures at the University of the Philippines Visayas Iloilo City campus through UPV Heritage Preservation Trust Fund, namely, the High School and Woman’s Club Buildings. Dr. RHODELLA A. IBABAO, PhD, leads the management team that oversees the P15 million project and its completion by the first quarter of 2023.
Adaptive Reuse will be applied in the said project. In repurposing for another use to be more relevant with the changing times, the two heritage structures will house galleries, rooms for small meetings, souvenir shop, coffee shop and a replica of a classroom circa 1965.
Artist PG ZOLUAGA is one of those who created the illustrations in the coffee table. The contributors are MARILYN HIPONIA-QUIGLEY, REY CARLO T. GONZALES, EMMANUEL A. LERONA, JULIE PRESCOTT and RENE C. TRANCE.
Supporters of the Handumanan Project include MORE Power Iloilo and UPCI HS Class 65 of which former Sen. FRANKLIN M. DRILON, retired Associate Justice FRANCIS H. JARDELEZA and my aunt EUFEMIA CASTIGADOR-GRATIAN belong.
