As part of its 5th anniversary, MORE Power gathered its employees for its bloodletting activity with the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Western Visayas. It included its third-party contractors who had been working with the power utility for years.
Now on its sixth edition, this has been one of the company’s core Social Responsibilities since its inception in 2020. The activity collected 25 bags of blood from donors.
“Actually, gina ubra ko ni siya yearly gid everytime may blood donation, ga conduct bloodletting si MORE ga donate gid ko. Gusto ko lang mag bulig halimbawa kinanglan dugo at the same time, daw mayu man sa lawas nga pirme bag-o dugo ta,” says Donel Sespeñe, Project Management Engineer sang MORE Power.
According to Gerald Jerez of JRD Opti Power Inc., “Ti para mag nami circulate sang kwan permi limpyo. Makabulig man sa gakinahanglan dugo.”
And Rachel Joy Lam, Front-End Developer, IT Dept., MORE Power, couldn’t agree more, “Sadto palang ga donate na ko dugo. Need man sang body natun mag replenish every 3-6 months. At the same time gabulig ka man sa iban.”
The Philippine Red Cross is currently supporting 26 hospitals in the region, each of which requires blood supply for various medical emergency needs. The agency needs a lot of donations from blood donors to be able to sustain its operations daily. Most of these donations may only last for a few days to weeks depending on the demand which is why, blood donation drives play a huge part in sustaining the supply.
“Amo ni nga hambal nila kung mag donate ka sang dugo gina stimulate niya ang pag ubra sang panibag-o nga dugo. May ara kita physical examination, in which gina check man natun ang status sang atun donors if physically fit man sila. Ang ginahambal nila nga ang pagdonate sang dugo naga panubo sang risk sang cancer,” says Carlo Nolan Carado, Blood Center Manager, WV Regional Blood Center.
The power company vows to continue its corporate social responsibility more than its mandate of distributing power to its consumers. “The objective here is we want to make our blood donation possible to our employees and our contractors and our suppliers. We want to meet the demands of blood here in Iloilo City. We want to save lives. Bal-an ta man kung ano kabudlay mag save sang dugo especially ang mga rare nga blood type and those nga kinanglan sang lain nga blood components,” says Daphne Karina J. De Pedro, Assistant Vice President, Human Capital Management.
