MORE Power is ready for Dinagyang!

“Action springs not from thought, but from a readiness for responsibility.”Dietrich Bonhoeffer

Iloilo City’s sole power distribution utility, MORE Electric and Power Corporation (MORE Power), is more than ready and fully prepared to ensure a stable and reliable power supply for the upcoming Iloilo Dinagyang Festival, taking place today, January 24 to Sunday, January 26, 2025.

Rightfully so, it has implemented a comprehensive contingency plan to accommodate the expected surge in power demand during the festivities.

According to MORE Power President and CEO ROEL Z. CASTRO, “We have a comprehensive contingency plan in place, including preventive maintenance and dedicated response teams, to address any potential power-related issues during the festival.”

The on-going preventive maintenance activities include:

  • Tree Trimming: Inspecting and clearing feeder lines to prevent potential outages caused by tree branches.
  • Equipment Checks: Monitoring and securing Automatic Circuit Reclosers (ACR) and Load Break Switches (LBS) to ensure proper functioning.
  • Feeder Loading Monitoring: Ensuring balanced power distribution across the city to avoid overloading and potential disruptions.

A dedicated workforce, including regular employees and contractors, has been mobilized to support these efforts. To address any potential power interruptions, response teams will be strategically positioned and on standby across all festival zones. And these include the following key locations:

  • Freedom Grandstand
  • Iloilo Provincial Capitol
  • Food Festival Area
  • Delgado-Mabini-Quezon-Ledesma Streets
  • SM-San Rafael-Megaworld Area
  • Megaworld Substation Control Center

For assistance and inquiries, festival-goers and revelers can also visit the MORE Power booth located along Delgado-Valeria Street (near Mercury Drug Store).

A 24/7 helpline will be also operational from today, January 24, to Sunday, January 26, with officers working in three shifts to provide prompt assistance to customers.

In the meantime, MORE Power’s warehouse will remain operational on January 25 and 26 to provide logistical support.  Line and response teams will work in shifts to ensure continuous coverage, with schedules tailored to cover all critical periods of the festival.

With these comprehensive measures in place, MORE Power is committed to ensuring that the Dinagyang Festival is an uninterrupted celebration for all attendees. “We want to ensure that everyone can enjoy the Dinagyang celebrations without worrying about power outages.” Mr. Castro added.
