MORE power goes green

It was a productive weekend for MORE Power Security Team and Customer Care Department staffers as they went green along the coastal area of Arevalo. Not to take a plunge in the water but for a clean drive by picking-up trash scattered on the shores. It was in line with the International Coastal Clean-up Day.

According to Security Head Rudin Tunding, “It was MORE Power President and CEO, Mr. Roel Castro who encouraged us to play an active role in cleaning the environment to serve as an example for the younger generation and the residents along the coastlines.”

Dubbed the MORE Power Guardians of the Environment, the group has been serving the community even beyond their normal duties in the power distribution facility.
“Since from the start ito na yung ginagawa namin. To join any community service with regards to or in connection with the environment,” emthused Tunding. “Sana lahat maging responsible kasi yung pagmamahal natin sa environment is everybody’s concern.”

The coastal area was not only place they cleaned up. They also took part in the massive declogging and de-trashing in the mangrove area along Esplanades 3 and 4 in the City Proper.

Mr. Ian Varona, the International Coastal Clean-up Philippines Coordinator, was all praises on the green efforts of MORE Power, which, according to him, highlighted the spirit of volunteerism among its employees especially when it comes to advocacies for the environment. “Very significant, the bigger the trash we can do mas maayo nga tool ina para mabal-an ta ang ano klase ordinances, regulations para sa local government para ma address ang root cause of the problem. Ga pasalamat gid kami sa MORE Power sa ila sustainability program. Actually every month, gapadala gid sila volunteers diri sa amon.”

  1. Excellent way for giving back to the community! In early 2000’s, I struck an agreement with friends that we not only swim and enjoy the picnic, but very importantly, stroll along the beach to pick-up garbage as a gesture of appreciation to our host (Sierra Leone).
