“Recognition is the fuel for future success.”– Chris Richardson
A resolution was recently passed by the Iloilo City Council recognizing the remarkable contributions of MORE Power to the city’s economic growth since it took the power distribution in Iloilo City five years ago.
Penned by Chairman of the Committee on Public Utilities, Councilor ROMEL DURON, the resolution was unanimously approved by the members of the City Council during their recent regular session. It highlights MORE Power’s key projects, among others, the Php 95 million underground distribution system, the illumination of historical plazas and churches, and various outreach programs such as mangrove planting, clean-up drives, and the annual release of fingerlings into the Iloilo River.
A study by the University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P) “estimates that MORE Power has contributed Php 4.99 billion to the Iloilo City economy.” According to its President WINSTON CONRAD PADOJINOG, the 3.8% gross domestic product growth of Iloilo City can be attributed to the reliable service provided by MORE Power as an electric distribution utility. The study further showed that MORE Power has generated 2,200 jobs annually and contributed Php 1.75 billion in revenue to the city from 2020 to 2022.
Additionally, the resolution underscores the City Council’s recognition of the positive impact of MORE Power on Iloilo City’s economic development. The City Council also expresses its gratitude for the continuous support of MORE Power, particularly under the leadership of the recently declared Adopted Son of Iloilo City ROEL Z. CASTRO.
