We cannot accomplish all that we need to do without working together.” — Bill Richardson

With twenty-three (23) days to go before the 2025 Mid-term Elections, MORE Power and Commission on Elections (COMELEC) joined forces to ensure a smooth and credible election process. CEO and President ROEL Z. CASTRO of MORE Power and Regional Director of Commission on Elections (COMELEC) VI Atty. DENNIS AUSAN signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) outlining their collaborative efforts to guarantee a reliable power supply during the upcoming elections! The MOA also delineated the responsibilities of both parties.

For its part, COMELEC will focus on disseminating information about voter rights and election schedules while promoting electoral accountability and empowering voters to participate effectively. Meanwhile, MORE Power will ensure the reliability of its distribution system, conduct preventative maintenance, and provide technical support to election centers.

Emphasizing the importance of reliable electricity for a fair and credible election, MORE Power President and CEO ROEL Z. CASTRO said, “We know how important and how sacred elections are… and we want to make sure that the electricity before, during, and after the elections is of unquestionable service.”

Iloilo City Election Officer Atty. Pinky Jevini Tentativa, President/CEO of MORE Power Z. Castro,  COMELEC VI Regional Director Atty. Dennis Ausan, and Iloilo Provincial Election Supervisor Atty. Reinier B. Layson sign the MOA.

The handshake to seal the deal.

“To ensure this, MORE Power will be conducting thorough inspections and maintenance on its power lines and equipment, ensuring that everything is ready for the elections,” CEO and President ROEL Z. CASTRO also stated. “We want to make sure that everything within our control, which is from the breaker all the way to the sub-transmission line, will all be ready, that we won’t have any question pagdating nang election.”

The company will also provide dedicated support to COMELEC officials, with a representative stationed at the COMELEC offices on Election Day. “Over and above that, to give confidence to the election officer and the people involved during the election, we actually would make sure that we will really be accessible and reachable at any time before, during, and before mag declare ng result, kasi alam ko pag magkaroon ng problema sa kuryente, ang unang tatawagin ay kami,” Mr. CASTRO further explained.

The pause to pose to post!

The huddle after the MOA signing.

COMELEC Regional Director Atty. DENNIS AUSAN expressed his gratitude for the partnership, highlighting the shared commitment to ensuring a fair and transparent election. “We really take this by heart, as what Sir Roel explained to all of us. You gave us full confidence,” Director Ausan said. “Those statements of confidence are what we need as we perform our mandates. This could go a long way. We started three years ago. And I’m looking forward to many more years even for our partnership because we have a common advocacy.”

MORE Power will also allow COMELEC’s information leaflets to be attached to the monthly delivery of Statements of Account of its over 100,000 consumers in Iloilo City.
