MORE goes clean and green for Earth Day

With the theme, “Invest in Our Planet,” MORE Power Iloilo earth warriors celebrated Earth Day by joining in a wide-ranged coastal clean-up drive and Mangrove Planting Activity!

The Guardians of the Environment of MORE Power Iloilo had an early kicked off at the banks of the historic Iloilo River. They were joined by its security personnel and volunteer-employees.

The planted 200 seedlings of mangroves along the Esplanade and collected 45 sacks of trash.

Led by the Iloilo City Government, the clean and green activity was also participated in by students from John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University and University of San Agustin, and various volunteer groups.

“Our message to the residents, the private sector and also our students is we have to work hand in hand because we have to make Iloilo City a sustainable and livable city. We are all enjoined to be part of the protection of the Environment,” Mary Grace Salvi Hofileña, Iloilo City Supervising Environment Management Specialist of City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), said.

Rightfully so, the Iloilo City Government extends its gratitude to MORE Power Iloilo for the latter’s protection of Iloilo River and its support of the former’s environmental advocacies.

For its part, MORE Power Iloilo has in its priority list the preservation of the natural resources of Iloilo River and, of course, its sustainability, like the yearly release of fingerlings, regular clean-up of the river and its banks, and the planting of mangrove seedlings.
