A weekend at Damires

Without the weekend, where would the week be?” – Anthony T. Hincks

When you want a quick getaway from the city without going very far, the place to be is Damires Hills Tierra Verde Leisure Farm.

At the invitation of Dr. Louie Tirador and family, my friends and yours truly spent a weekend at his family-owned resort. After a 45-minute ride, we were in for a surprise!

We are ready for our “Hilot” courtesy of Ilaya Spa.

Nestled in the heart of Iloilo in Brgy. Damires in the Municipality of Janiuay, the inland resort offers many amenities, like its old-world charm Lobby; Canopy Walk, the longest in Western Visayas; good food with the ingredients coming from its organic farm; comfortable rooms; fruit-bearing orchards; three infinity pools each with a good view of the surrounding farm; Aquaponics System for sustainable agriculture; outdoor activities, such as zipline, ATV adventure and farm tour; and the famed Ilaya Spa where we had soothing “hilot” after our walk up and down the hills and fun dip in one of the pools! To top it all, the service was efficient all the way!

The architecture and interiors of the different buildings of the resort evoke Modern Filipiniana with furniture and fixtures tastefully curated.

A unique and tranquil 16-hectare retreat, the two-star hotel is located in a “sprawling land of endless foliage awash with tropical beauty.”

Indeed, our stay was a short respite from the hustle and bustle of Metro Iloilo! We enjoyed the sunset as much as we relished the sunrise, and quietness of the night and the chirping birds in the morning! It was a microcosm of a farm life!
