A night to remember

Being powerful is like being a lady. If you have to tell you are, you aren’t.” – Margaret Thatcher

Few moons ago, yours truly attended the fabulous coming out party of LIANNE EMERALD L. NAVA at one of the Function Rooms of Iloilo Convention Center. Her Dad, my kumpare, former Iloilo City Councilor PLARIDEL C. NAVA, threw a debutante’s party worthy of a lady who wants to be CPA Lawyer!

The theme of the debutante’s ball was Modern Royalty. In keeping with it, most of the guests came in their blue gowns and suits.

Aside from the usual video presentations, speeches and entertainment, and the traditional grand entrance and dance, and 18 candles, treasures and roses, the highlight of the night was the five-course sit down dinner  — a culinary collaboration between MARY PAULINE GORRICETA-BANUSING of  Al Dente Ristorante Italiano, Nicollete and Spring Palace. It was something new for the 200+ guests. It reminded me of what one of the top chefs in the country once said that, in formal settings and chic events, she can’t imagine her well dressed and bejewelled guests lining up to get their food!

Of course, the presence of VIPs, immediate and extended family members, friends and well-wishers made the occasion even more memorable.

We capped our night with a video as we sashayed away to give way to the younger set to party all night long to the music of hotshot DJ RYAN ESPINOSA!
