In its pursuit for a greener future, Palm Concepcion Power Corporation (PCPC) recently held a groundbreaking ceremony of its 5.1 Megawatt (MW) Solar Power Facility. The event was timed perfectly for its 7th anniversary of commercial operations with the theme “PCPC Going Green @ 7.”

Iloilo Governor ARTHUR DEFENSOR Jr. spearheaded the groundbreaking ceremony. Joining him were the Mayor MILLIARD VILANUEVA and the officials of Concepcion, Iloilo, DENR top brass, service provider Northeast No. 1 Electric Power Construction Co. Ltd. (NEPC), and PCPC’s Board of Directors and Senior Management.

In his speech, Gov. DEFENSOR said, “The going green initiative of PCPC is very important to us because it is an alignment with the direction of the province and the country in the area of energy.” He also cited the Renewable Energy Ordinance of 2022 which aims to develop and promote renewable energy in the province.

“More than the convergence and doing your part in taking care of our environment, PCPC is a very important contribution to the way of the government, way of life in the province (of Iloilo), and the whole country,” the governor added.

Aside from reducing the carbon footprint, the solar farm will also provide a reliable source of renewable energy for the PCPC power plant. The project will see completion in the 4th quarter of 2023.

PCPC is the owner of the 135MW Circulating Fluidized Bed Combustion Power Plant in Concepcion, Iloilo.
