“Trees are as close to immortality as the rest of us ever come.” — Karen Joy Fowler
At least fifty (50) MORE Electric and Power Corporation employees went to Agony Hill in Alimodian for a tree-planting activity. Carrying 500 narra tree saplings, they braved the heat, crossed a river and hiked the steep slopes for this worthy initiative. It was in coordination with the Alimodian Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office and the Alimodian Local Government Unit (LGU).
“This activity reflects MORE Power’s core commitment to environmental responsibility,” said Engineer Ronald Torres, Chief Operating Officer of MORE Power. “Every year, we conduct similar initiatives to engage with our consumers and demonstrate that MORE Power goes beyond delivering quality service as a distribution utility but also extending its efforts for the community.”
He also extended MORE Power’s gratitude to the Alimodian Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office, headed by, Engineer Reno Alquisada, and to Mayor Ian Kenneth Alfeche for allowing the activity.
“It is very important to have this kind of activity.” Engineer Torres continued. “MORE Power started here in Iloilo City, various activities and partnerships with LGU and other stakeholders have been conducted. We will continue to support initiatives that promote environmental sustainability and strengthen community partnerships.”
Since taking over power distribution in Iloilo City, MORE Power has been active in programs that aim to help communities, including tree-planting initiatives in the City and Province of loilo City. It has exceeded its commitment to plant 10,000 trees in the city alone, with 14,000 tree saplings planted various community initiatives.
By continuing these efforts in both the city and the province, the company aims to contribute to their shared sustainability aspirations by supporting greener communities, biodiversity conservation, and long-term environmental resilience for the benefit of Ilonggos.
