The newly acquired state of the art mobile substation of MORE Power Iloilo

“Electricity is really just organized lightning.” – George Carlin

Yes, the new and modern 30/36 MVA mobile substation, recently purchased by MORE Power Iloilo, is in town. The latest acquisition was manufactured by Aktif Elektroteknik of Turkey and supplied by EEI Power Corporation.

Its major equipment is akin to a power transformer and switchgears. Coming from Italy and Germany, it was assembled by Aktif, which has 40 years of experience in manufacturing electrical equipment and mobile substations.

Last June, the Legal Team and Engineers of MORE Power supervised the Factory Acceptance Test of the mobile substation at Aktif Elektroteknik factory in Turkey.

Engr. Wilmar Gonzaludo, Project Manager-Substations, Engr. John Dave Jabatan, Project Control and Administration Supervisor, Engr. Paterno Cabangisan, Assistant Vice President-Project Development and Management, and Ms Joy Fantilaga, Corporate Communications Officer.

Engr. Wilmar Gonzaludo briefs the local media on the mobile substation.

The mobile substation is first of its kind in the country. Stand-alone, it is all complete from its primary 69 kV side to its secondary 13.2 kV side with no need of additional construction or equipment to start up. The entire equipment can fit in two trailers because of its compact gas-insulated switchgear from Siemens of Germany that is used for the five (5) 13.2 kV feeders

One of its unique features is the use of the state of the art PASS M00 system. It fits the major 69 kV equipment – power circuit breaker, current transformers, potential transform, disconnect switches and the control elements – in whole package.

The PASS M00 was manufactured by ABB in Italy, one of the world’s most respected manufacturers of electrical equipment.

Mr. Jonathan Cabrera, Public and Media Relations Officer and Ms. Maricris Cabalhin, Assistant Vice President for Marketing and Corporate Affairs.

Now in Molo Substation, the mobile substation arrived few days ago. It will be used as temporary substation during the almost 8 months to one year total rehabilitation of the old substations in Iloilo City. The feeder lines will be connected to this mobile substation to steadily supply the consumers with electricity.

This is the second mobile substation purchased by MORE Power Iloilo. The first one is located in Megaworld in Mandurriao to supply the power need of the business district.

Rightfully so, the newly acquired mobile substation is part of the on-going five year modernization of the distribution utility in Iloilo City.
